I purchased a used L2900 GST 6 months ago. Now that it's getting warmer and the days longer I have more time to familiarize myself with the tractor. I have noticed that when in 4th gear there is a very faint noise when the shuttle lever is in neutral, it's not quite a rattle but very close. I don't hear it when it's in forward or reverse, only in neutral. Is this normal? Or should I be worried?

I don't know if GST's have conventional mechanical clutches. If they do, off the top of my head, I'd say to check that there is some free-play at the top of the clutch pedal travel. In a regular clutch the noise could be from a dragging throw-out bearing. ....

I thought one of my oranges was falling apart all of a sudden.

It happened to be a GST, however, as time progressed, I realized a chattery noise...almost a rattle, and I was concerned. One day it became really concerning and distracting. I then realized that the split brake lock bar had worn off the paint on it's surfaces, and was rattling within the lock arms between both brake pedals.

Point being...don't assume that it is anything major...nine times out of ten, it isn't. Check out the little things first.

Many transmissions will have a rattle at different points. It most often happens with straight cut gears in a lot of the older transmissions. With the transmission being at a point of about to shift ranges there might be two gears that might be causing it. Many times these rattles are found when the tractors are idling below the recommended idle speed and to increase it to the correct idle speed will illiminate it. ....
